DEFINITION

Calorie burner

A substance which when taken, increases the Basal Metabolic Rate in the body causes higher energy usage and consequent weight loss.

Cancer

A malignant (spreading and life threatening) growth or tumor or an abnormal cell growth that is uncontrollable and tends to spread to new sites.

Cardiovascular
conditions

Problems related or pertaining to the heart.

Carminative

An agent that helps expulsion of gas, relieving flatulence

Chest Pain

A term generally used to refer to pain in the chest area. It can be caused by infection of the lungs or distress of the lower respiratory system, heartburn, or heart complications.

Childblains

Small red swellings on the skin, which can be very itchy and eventually become painful. Occurs in the toes, fingers, face and nose. They usually occur due to the body’s abnormal reaction of the body to cold or a pressure bearing area.

Cholesterol

A yellow, waxy, fatty substance in the blood that is deposited in arteries when in excess (plaque) narrowing the blood vessels and consequently increasing the risk of heart disease.

Circulatory stimulant

An agent that improves or promotes blood circulation by clearing clots, discouraging platelet agglutination, relaxing the blood vessels or promoting oxygen circulation.

Cold

A widespread infectious viral disease causing inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose, throat and bronchial tubes. It is characterized by sore throat, stuffy or runny nose, cough, headache, and general malaise.

Colic

A condition caused by antibodies in infants. Often triggered by cow milk or formula with cow milk base. Characterized by the infant crying inexplicably and inconsolably for a total of three hours a day, three days a week for three weeks or more. The infant screams, draws their legs up towards the abdomen and appear to be in great pain. They may pass flatus, be quiet for a few moments and then start crying again.

Constipation

Difficult and delayed defecation due to sluggish action of the bowels in which the stool is hard and dry. Symptoms may include painful bowel movement, flatulence, stomachache, wind, bloating and in sever cases can cause hemorrhoids.

Contraceptive

An agent/device that prevents conception from occurring.

Contraindications

Strong advise against taking a given substance due to proven negative effects

Convulsions

A sudden periodic attack of repeated involuntary muscular contractions and relaxations. Causes are varied but they present with frothing in the mouth, problematic breathing and incontinence. They do not last long but the patient may wake up confused or with no knowledge of what happened.

Cough

A voluntary or involuntary contraction of the respiratory system in an attempt to clear the airways, usually of mucous and foreign matter or due to irritation of the same.

Cramps

Painful and sudden involuntary contraction of the muscles. May be caused by straining or overexerting the muscle. Stress, drugs and certain foods may also trigger it.
